What Anywhere is

Anywhere is a map of places that are good to work from, rated by the people who actually work there. You can browse it without an account. Signing in lets you add a 1–5 star rating and a few preset tags to a place, say you’re at a place, add a place that is missing from the map, and keep a personal shortlist of saved places.

Your account

You sign in with Google or Apple — there is no separate Anywhere password to manage. You are responsible for keeping your Google or Apple account secure, since that is what controls access to your Anywhere account. You must be old enough to use Google or Apple sign-in under their own terms.

Contributing ratings

A contribution is one star rating (1–5) plus optional preset tags per place, per account — you cannot rate the same place twice from the same account. There is no free-text field; you cannot post comments, images, or any other written content. Rate a place honestly, based on your own experience working there. You can also add a place by picking it from a Google search result: we look the place up with Google ourselves and check it is a real venue of a kind people can work from, and it then appears on the map straight away. We may hide a place at any time — because it fails that check later, because Google reports it as permanently closed, or because someone reported it.

Reporting a problem with a place or a rating

If you believe a place listing or a rating is wrong, inappropriate, or shouldn’t be there, open the place and use “Report this place”. Every report is reviewed by hand. A place we hide is hidden rather than deleted, so a decision can be reversed.

Place data accuracy

Opening hours, photos, phone numbers, price level and Google’s own star rating come from Google Maps Platform. We store a copy and re-sync it from Google about once a month, so these details are as accurate as our last sync rather than a live reading — a place may have changed its hours, moved or closed since. Whether a place is shown as open now is worked out from those stored opening hours and the current time in the place’s own city. We do our best to show accurate places, but we don’t control the underlying details, and we are not responsible for a place being closed, changed, or listed incorrectly.

Acceptable use

Don’t misuse the app: don’t try to manipulate ratings, don’t attempt to access another user’s account, and don’t try to extract or scrape the underlying place data in bulk. We may suspend or remove an account that misuses the service.

Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account. Your profile is cleared immediately. Your saved places and your entire “I’m here” history are deleted outright. Your past ratings are anonymised rather than deleted outright, so that other users continue to see an accurate overall rating for a place — see the Privacy Policy for detail.

No warranty

Anywhere is provided as-is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we make no guarantee that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any particular place will meet your expectations.

Changes

We may update these terms as the app changes. If we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the update.
